If it's optional then I guess I'm safe since, at least from what I've read about it at this point, GW2 doesn't interest me in the least.

If it's required to play thru GW:EN PvE, then I guess I'm screwed since I have lots of chars (and, hence, lots of heroes) that I trade weapons between, weapons that I'd prefer not to be "customized" for a single char obviously. And if that's the case, I'll take my 2 (unopened) pre-order packs back to EB Games for a refund.
I'm pretty sure it's just an optional thing. And the way the Hall of Monuments is now, I choose to never use it.

It's optional, just don't put anything on it. It won't affect GW:EN in anyway, just GW2.

Like PvP, HoM is something I'll not be (if it stays the way it is) participating in.

Whining and voicing a concern of a product (a new product at that) are 2 very different things.

That sort of takes the whole 'lineage' idea out of it.

Anet: "Oh yeah. The Asureans invented cryogenic storage... Sorry. You're choices are limited if you want the spiffy new items. Now do you want your character thawed?"

Personally, I'd like to create a new descendant.

and from what I saw, most of the new 'races' are not human. what the hell kind of descendant would a Charr or an Asurian make for my war?

Fellowship - why reward everyone for doing something you do as part of following the storyline?

Honour - Maybe so high because this is supposed to be only for something special or extrodinary

Maybe we all need to step back and think of the HoM as a holding place for truly amazing accomplishments and not something that just anyone can do. Not to mention that until we hear how this all works out in GW2... why does it matter so much? You can just wait to immortalize your uber self once you know more what its going to mean.

Rework that honor monument and lower those rank requirements, ESPECIALLY Hero to 3, otherwise people will be ticked off to no end.

What else did you have to do for the next 2 years before GW2 comes out? LOLZ!!! Evidently anet thinks we all fit the "video game players have no life outside playing their game" category.

So rack up titles on one character, memorialize him/her in the hall of monuments and then do it all over again ad naseum! Aren't you entertained by doing the same thing 15 times over? Anet thinks so! All the farming and titles in the game back up their findings! We're content to sit and do the same repetitive tasks... no arguing that. Are we really surprised that we're being set up to do them clear through until GW2 comes out? That's just good marketing!

If the atmosphere in HA was more welcoming I'd agree, but with the way it is, 3 is the best way to go. Considering it's next to impossible to PuG in there until you hit 3.

clearly some people are, based on the number of characters they have. Seems they're quite happy to go through each game X amount of times, but only want to get each title the once.

You guys have not gotten it yet have you?

After all this time in GW and you still don't understand Anet.

This is classic Anet move, implement something that people won't like much and then fix it to their liking and bam, everyone loves Anet again.

Just wait and they will fix it the way people want it.

Default Why have I been playing?

The clock was ticking into the early morning on the East Coast. 3:01AM. Finally! I log onto my character and delve into Eye of the North. Pure elation! The music was awesome, the graphics were cool. I felt a feeling close to giddiness as I journeyed closer to the Hall of Monuments. I had seen all of the movies, read all of the reviews. I felt prepared for what I’d see.

The Monument of Devotion would be where I could finally unload these 35 minipets off of a storage character and set them on a shelf, how cute!

And over there, the Monument of Valour! Maybe it would be a checklist of greens found throughout the world, a place where I could amass an arsenal to prove to the future that Absolut Monk was worthy of her name. Maybe it would be a place I could enshrine my precious Long Sword of Enchanting that I’ve 55 smited so many foes with.

Oh yes, and the Monument of Resilience! I could unload my seven sets of 15k armor off of various storage characters and set them on a shelf so that future generations can remember what I looked like.

Gasp! The Monument of Honour. This is what I’ve been waiting for, as my monk truly is absolute. Having 24 maxed titles, I had imagined seeing something truly worthy of showing off to my friends. In fact, my 25th title is just around the corner! Maybe I can run those last 500 chests this week before the game officially launches? It would make that monument/statue thing light up with a thousand shades of bling!

And then I got there, and I feel disgusted knowing how much time I’ve wasted on my character. There was no bling, only burlap. “Please select a PVP title to display on your monument”. I was shocked, SHOCKED I tell you, that even my KoaBD track barely got a footnote along side of chapter completion. I can display my title on my character and get the same effect!

So at close to 5:00 am this morning, I shut down my computer. I will log back on in a week, with a clear head and a better attitude, knowing that ANet will make it right.

Ouch I have to complete a set armor just to make it showable. My Necro is wearing Luxon,Kurzick,Canthan 15K imagine how much money I need to complete these set. Most of my others char also wearing pieces from a lest 2 sets. Imagine money needed to complete them.
longa thatsucks and all but think of it this way. i have 2 sets of grotto and 2 sets of citidel armor so theres 1 set each down the drain then i got a elite sunspear with elite kurzick helm 2 peices of primeval and a vabbain chest piece so ya i have to buy like 8 more 15k peices then all those rubiesandsaphires which will probably go way up thx to probably asura armor. then again i was planning on getting every armor set for my war so ya lol. i just wish tere was a way to store it. (like most people my storage is full of items)

I dont know why so many are surprised by the one GW char to one GW2 char transfer in the HoM. It has been said the whole time, and now that it is here and confirmed you guys are acting like its the end of the world. I mean really, how many of you out there benifit from all of your ancestors accomplishments.

Look at this from a real perspective, we can take a family heirloom. Usually they are passed down from generation to generation, but goto one specific person. In my family it is a bible, this bible has my family tree writen in it for over 500 years. It is very vluble in my family, but it always goes to the oldest male child of a generation. Not to all of us, just one though it shows the history of my whole family. That is how I expected the Hall of monuments to work. But it seems like every char will be a different family, nbd. I still plan to aquire titles on my three main toons.

As for the minis, I understand custimizing them, but I hope that they are customised by account. If not, ts not the end of the world, but it will make me sad as all of my toon like to play with my Koss, Asura and Hydra

LMAO!

I am disappointed that all those hard earned PvE titles won't carry over (need to max one more for PKM).

The Monument of Honour shows your titles and accomplishments, including finishing a campaign.
No mention of PvP ONLY titles. Misdirection?

Absolutely perfect suggestion.

Amongst all the flaming and ranting you posted a perfectly sensible solution. Meets both Anet's and player's needs at the same time.

"I submit it to you Greg" (semi-obscure movie reference) that Minis are different from titles and weapons and be treated as such. I have no trouble making titles character dependent, but they are much more like festival hats in that:

1) They are vanity items
2) The provide no in-game benefit to the character

Not only should there be a zoo-keeper, but his name should be Loviatar.
